Eligibility criteria to pursue a Ph.D.


To pursue the degree, different eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled,

  • You must have a postgraduate degree or MPhil with at least 55% marks.
  • An entrance exam determines the Ph.D. examination, that entrance exam can be conducted by government or university-based exams.
  • You must have passed CSIR UGCT NET, UGC NET, NPAT, IIT JAM, GATE, and other exams according to the respective fields in which you want to pursue a Ph.D.

Points to remember 

  • During the Ph.D. session, a scholar must write at least two research papers. 
  • Same paper needs to be presented in some national or international seminar.
  • Both papers must be published in one national and another international journal. 

Ph.D. Duration

Ph.D. Programme Shall be for a Minimum Duration of Three Years, Including Course Work, and a Maximum of Six Years. The Period of Active Service Spent on Pursuing a Research Degree, i.e., Acquiring a Ph.D. degree Simultaneously Without Taking any leave, maybe Counted as Teaching Experience for Direct Recruitment/Promotion to the Post of Associate Professor and Above.
